You can replace your existing doorbell with ring for wired connection. If you dont have a Doorbell already, you can install this as wireless connection. The rechargeable battery comes with the doorbell should last for 4 to 6 months as per Ring.

The non removable one requires you to remove the entire unit to recharge. I have both and prefer being able to use a deck d battery I purchased online at discount rather than taking the unit off the wall. I just slip out the dead one and slip in the back up. Also get the 1080p camera not the lesser. You do not need an existing bell. My back door does not have a wired bell. The wired bell just activated any inside chime. Ring sells a wireless indoor chime if you need one.
