We've had one working since autumn in rain, snow, and sleet. It has survived it all. Obviously if ice-covered it won't function, but how often does that happen? Only once for us, and that was just a week or so ago. Still purring along fine after that, too!

It is waterproof to an extent, it would probably be best if it was under an awning. We have ours on the front porch and love it!
