• No, there is nothing in the instructions saying to do so. It would simply bypass the battery if you wanted to hard wire it. We use the battery and it’s been fine once we adjusted how far it picks up motion.

• No. It still runs off the battery. The existing wiring just adds a trickle charge to the unit.
