I would suggest you call TIVO customer support. They are extremely helpful. The unit requires a connection to a router to connect to internet. For this reason, I'm not sure dial-up will work. Without an internet connection, you cannot get programing for recording ability. Best wishes.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Dial up speed is slow, probably to slow for movies. The Tivo unit cannot be programmed to daily, so she would have to make the connection before recording.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Unfortunately I cannot answer your question. I moved into a new housing development and there is no fiber optic cable available for my DSL. I will not be able to install and activate my Tivo for another 2 weeks.
