I’d say stranded wire. You impale the wire on a spike as you tighten the threaded nut. Not sure a solid wire will work if extremely thick and likely won’t make a good connection if trying to wrap the single wire around the stubby spike.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I think it is intended just for stranded wires because it has a locking mechanism that connects the plug and the tip of the wire that could only be done only on a stranded wires.
