I doubt it. That has more to do with what signal the Polk Solo sound bar is getting from your tv and not with the cable. If it hasn't worked in the past, it is unlikely it would work now. Sadly, you might still need to use the Polk remote, but that is a guess.

Digital audio output is generally at a fixed volume over fiber, you'll have to get your remote to control the volume on the polk bar. I know LG remotes are usually pretty good covering a lot of devices.
