• Not an electrician, but the common knowledge on the internet suggests that using it on an ungrounded outlet will protect against surge but not electrical noise (so, slightly safer in a lightning storm, but without the clean power features enabled). And to simulate the safety properties of a grounded outlet, you should replace the receptacle with a GFCI.
