I had this problem too. The key is that the arm doesn't have to be perfectly centered on the wall mount. So, I attached the wall mount to two studs and then simply shifted the arm to the far left to get my TV centered. It's been up for over a month now with no issues, and the configuration feels totally secure. Hope that helps!
