• follow the directions that came with them. It says you need to sync both of them by pressing the sync buttons on them at the same time.

• Try turning up the sub-woofers output level on your A/V receiver (I set mine to the max level and lowered the gain on my sub to suit my taste). These units aren't sensitive enough to detect all incoming signals only those of a certain level.
