Roku 1 is the original unit and has a very slow processor and limited choices. The new Roku 2 has the same processor as the new Roku 3, very fast. The Roku 3 has voice activation and a RF type remote (you don't have to be able to physically see the device for the the remote to work). Best value, Roku 2.
