Yes, there are many free streaming services and shows, including some old movie shows and music stations that are free. However, to get the best enjoyment from your Roku device, you should have at least one movie streaming channel (such as Netflix, which shows movies, tv shows, some Showtime series, great documentaries, and even Netflix originals for only $10/mo) and one current TV show streaming channel such as Hulu. Netflix releases TV series about 6 months after the series finalies. Without an email address to prove that you have a valid service provider, you will not have access to regular stations, like ABC, NBC, CBS ... etc.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. There are so many free stations/apps I cannot begin to name them all. Personally, I enjoy PBS the most, there are some great shows and they are free. My teenage daughters enjoy the music stations, Pandora, iHeart and such. There's many free movie stations too, mostly older movies, but some are good documentaries too. If you have cable, or even a friend with cable who will hook you up with an email account, you can stream almost all local stations, like abc, nbc, cbs, and even A&E, Discovery, TLC, almost all of the stations that come with basic cable tv now have apps that are available through Roku, you can also purchase cards at local grocery or other stores, and some stores even give them away, that allow you to stream movies from some stations/apps such as like Fandango. The options seem to be unlimited and growing daily.
