Gotta make sure your tv is setup to be turned on automatically by another device.

First make sure the Roku Express HD isn't obstructing the IR sensor on your TV. The TV IR sensor is usually found on the bottom of your TV. You can also try turning off the HDMI-CEC settings on your TV for the HDMI port that your Roku Express HD is currently connected to.
