It sounds like you’re not fully understanding what Roku does. It’s a piece of equipment, separate or built into a TV, that allows you to download various apps to watch what you like. Some apps, like Haystacktv free news app will give you a series or videos from multiple local or national or international channels. It just jumps from one video clip to the other depending on what you want to watch. Or you can download and subscribe to something like CBS All Access for $5.99 per month and watch live national CBS TV and football.

This is a directv now issue. You’ll see the same problem on the amazon fire stick.
