Good product
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I own and older version of the Roku but after reading the Xfinity website I found I could replace my Xfinity box with a newer version of the Roku stick. The Roku does take the place of the secondary box, it is not as easy with the Roku remote since the Roku remote has no numbers and the setup for Xfinity is slightly different but it serves its purpose and I don't pay extra monthly fees for the small cable box from Xfinity. I do on the other hand receive all the Roku channels so it is a win for me. As I think about it... I did buy the cheapest version of a Roku for $29 and unlike my first one the remote is line of sight which means that the remote has to be pointed right at the Roku device as opposed to my old one which hid behind the television connected to the HDMI port. So the Box they give you is now taped to the bottom of my television so I can point my remote at it. Maybe this cuts down on cost for the least expensive version but it's not a big deal for me.

My second one
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Love the ROKU devices. I own a few and this one is my second favorite, The first is my TCL ROKU TV. They are easy to set-up and easy to use. This one can get a little to warm so I have mine set-up on a metal heat sink. The memory seems to be limited to about 300 channels depending on how much data the channel needs to function, but other then that I love this one. I also can control it and my TV with a ROKU App on my Cell Phone. This one is much better then the HDMI Stick ROKU because if the remote control goes bad on the HDMI Stick it will no longer function, That is why I bought this second one ( My HDMI Stick won't work any more ).

Just what I was looking for,
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I wanted something for the TV in my bedroom and this is just what I needed. I can access Sling, Netflix, Hulu, etc. and was able to attach it to the top of my mounted TV with the included Velcro strips so that I don’t have cords showing. Very pleased!

Nice Addition to the Roku lineup
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have never owned a Roku streaming box before now, but I have had plenty of experience with the Roku 2 and 3 prior to purchase. I was buying this for use on my bedroom TV, which I don't watch all that often. I limited my budget based on this use case which brought me to 2 options. The Express or the Stick (it was on sale at the time, so same price). My TV is older and doesn't doesn't have USB ports to power the Stick, and its HDMI ports were on the side. This would make the Stick protrude well beyond the edge of the TV, and it would require wall power just like the Express. For these reasons I ruled out the Stick and went with the Express. The Express is a very small device - no bigger than a roll of quarters. It comes with double sided tape so you can mount it anywhere - I stuck mine to the bottom edge of the TV. I hooked it up using the provided HDMI cable and wall charger. Setup was pretty easy - you need to have a computer nearby to login and activate the Express before you can use it. I was able to add my HULU, HBOnow, and Sling accounts from the web browser on my computer. I could also pick a few of the free streaming channels I like through the browser, and it would automatically add it to the Express. However, I had to add my Nettflix account directly on the device - not an option through the browser. This was a more time consuming way to add accounts, and I'm not sure why Netflix was singled out. The interface on the device is pretty straightforward. Newcomers will not be overwhelmed, and its pretty intuitive. I was used to it coming from the 2 and 3, so there was no learning curve. The remote is just OK. It does what I need it to, so I guess that is good enough. Picture quality is solid. I'm watching at 1080P without it buffering/lagging/pixelating. I was worried about my router having enough signal in my bedroom to keep up, but it hasn't been an issue. For an MSRP of $30, this is a nice little streamer.

A Great Gift!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Kid you not, this lower-end Roku device makes such a great gift to friends and family. I highly recommend that if you're going to buy Roku for yourself, to go with the higher end models. But as an inexpensive gift to someone, it's awesome! Who doesn't have a spare TV in their house that could use the benefits of the Roku Operating System?! The price point just makes it such a great item to hand out to folks that those on the receiving end, will think you went far and beyond for them.

EXCELLENT INEXPENSIVE STREAMING PLAYER!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I decided to buy this Roku player for turning my TV into a smart TV. Mainly I wanted to try and receive cable tv channels from internet-cable services.(OTT). Now a days, most of all TV channels are digital and require a cable box to receive cable channels. In order to avoid having a cable box with extra equipment fees, the trick is, as long as you have a good internet connection, a compatible streaming player or TV, a digital TV antenna, and sign up for any OTT TV service, you can get Cable TV for a low cost without a cable box! It's technically the new standard for basic cable now and this Roku player does great for this purpose! I have a cable-outlet hooked straight to my TV from a TV Antenna for free local channels and have this Roku for my cable channels! This Roku player gave me a 30 day free trial for Cable TV with Sling and I instantly got hooked! It's definitely worth paying for! Only $25 a month! Just know that the free trial is only for NEW SLING TV customers. I also bought this for watching youtube and other videos without having to connect a laptop to my TV. Since, I didn't care for the remote that came with this player, especially without TV volume and mute controls, I've been using my universal TV remote with it since day one instead.(Mostly any streaming player compatible universal TV remote will work.) So I have one remote for the TV and Roku controls and have all the important functions for both. Also since the player does overheat, I bought a little desk fan to keep the Roku cool and haven't had any overheating issues since then. I also limit up to no more than 8 apps on my homepage to keep it running smoothly, it's enough for me. So if you've got a good internet connection and willing to do these extra steps, it's a great streaming player for the low price! Just keep in mind that you have to provide credit or debit card info for a Roku account in order to activate any Roku device including Roku TV's. Also if someone charges you $69 for activation, it's most likely a scam because it's not necessary. (I skipped this and still works fine.) Over all, great device for the price!

Good Value for the Money
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have several Roku devices and this one is an addition to my new TV. It is good value for the money, but I would have probably bought the more expensive version (w/ additional features) if my TV was a newer model. I still think for the money I paid, this ROKU will not disappoint. It is very small, hardly noticeable, fits great under the TV (it's a good device for a beginner or a person who needs limited functionality).
