when you first set up or plug in the stick to the tv, there is a set up routine that you have to go through at which time it will prompt you to make up a password. your email address should work or something else that's easy for you to remember. you will most likely need a smart phone or your computer with internet access to go through the start up routine

Go to the roku web site and search for the streinsthe installation instructions. Roku will issue the password. You will need to be on the computer to receive the password. This works but the directions in the package insert do not as several steps are missing
