It is possible to use an HDMI-to-RCA adaptor for ROKU. It doesn't negatively affect your ability to watch anything you can stream on Roku. I know because I have it on two tv's that have the composite (RCA connectors - yellow, red, and white cables) connections. Actually, I use s-video on one of the tv's and the RCA audio cables. You can even purchase an HDMI to component (red, green, blue video cables) adaptor if your tv has that type of connection. These adaptors range from 10-40 bucks on Amazon.
