“Does the remote use Bluetooth or IR for connectivity? That is, can the console unit be inside a cabinet (not visible) and still receive communication from the remote?”

mine will work IR or bluetooth. i have a universal remote that will control it and the remote that came with it works in the other room not even pointed in the right direction.

Yes it does work on BT and can be put in a cabinet out of site. The remote does use IR for TV remote features.

it acts like bluetooth. Range not very far.

The Ultra remote is RF and you do not need to have line of sight.

yes. we have 2 inside thick tv cabinets n the wifi strength is excellent
