• It is not obvious what you are referring to by purchase of THE MEDIA PLAYER. Please clarify your question. As a rule, you do not have to purchase MULTIPLE Roku devices (unless you want to). Each comes as a complete package (albeit perhaps without the HDMI cable).

• NO This plugs into the TV It is a media player, a upgraded version of the Roku stick
