“Issue with the zippers on the main compartment (one before the last compartment) A friend of mine has the same bag and I took a look at the yesterday since I thought of buying one for myself. I liked the bag, but I noticed that the zippers on the main compartment weren't going up smoothly since it seems to get stuck a little bit (on both sides) due to the interior stitch/design. There seems to be a bend on the interior stitching that makes the zipper stuck a little bit on its way up; though I am able to close it fully and open it fully, it doesn't seem to be smooth in certain area on both sides of the main compartment. I want to know if this could be just a manufacturing defect or if all the bags for this particular model are designed that way. Thank you in advance. Srivatsan”

I have encountered no issues with the zippers as long as i don't overfill the compartments. When i do then the zippers can be more difficult to close.

Please try again later.I just bought one about a week ago and they must have gotten it fixed because all of my zippers work smoothly, including the particular problem area that you have described. I believe that Samsonite has a warranty on it as well if you are willing to go through that hassle. I hope this does not scare away potential buyers because this is a great backpack.

I just checked mine, and the zippers on all 4 compartments (the 2 large ones, and the 2 on the front pouch) are all smooth as glass. I ran them up and down to see if they had any sticking points that I might have previously overlooked, but no problems at all. Even going around the top corners was smooth, and the little zipper for the top pouch was fine too. I remember when I got this one at the store, there were a few on the same rack. You can check them when you go to purchase it, and test them to make sure the zippers don't do that. I am very pleased with mine, since we always have a ton of gear and everyone is constantly in-and-out of the bag. I could see where a zipper sticking would be a huge nuisance, but so far no problems here.

If there are items in that little inside pocket, it weighs down the front of that section to be zipped, therefore making it more difficult for the zipper to glide along the track, as it normally would, without that misalignment.

At the local best buy they had a few of them on display so if your local best buy has a few of them try out the zippers before buying. sounds like a defect to me. I love this back pack, one of the best ive owned. I've owned a harley davidson brand backpack that was very expensive and it was lower quality than this back pack.
