You pretty much hit the nail on the head. The "extra features" this microwave has really doesn't make it worth it as a toaster or oven can do a better job in my opinion. That doesn't mean its a bad microwave (the SE errors do though). Some foods don't require as much prep as others. If you use it as a microwave (and it works), you won't have any issues. We simply stopped trying to do the extra features and used it only as a microwave. Works well for that (once again, when it is working).
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Hi DesertGal, The grill element in the MC17F808KDT is designed to compliment the convection microwave features by enabling browning and toasting. The grill element browns from the top (in the same way that a broiler in an oven heats from the top), and the convection fan, when used, circulates the heat around items placed on the rack. I would suggest you download the pdf of the User Manual from Samsung's website for a better understanding of how to use the different functions, such as for steaks or fish, and whether it will suit your needs since we'd like you to be happy with your decision to purchase! - Ms. Samsung
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.it works like an oven stake and fish bake and come out really good when you make toast you put it on a rack that goes up against the burner that's why you have to turn it over
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Use a toaster for bread. If you broil meat you have to turn the meat so I dont see how that is any different. With the convection feature there is less grease and the food is cooked more uniform with more flavor locked into the meat. The meat cooks faster and you dont have to scrub the broiling pan. Haven't used the oven since we got the appliance.
