Chromebooks tend to be "safer" than Windows based laptops, as the Chrome operating system is less likely to get viruses or malware than the Windows operating system. It should be able to handle schoolwork. It only has a 32 gigabyte flash drive for storage, so too much downloading (such as videos) might fill up the memory. However, you can expand the memory storage by inserting a memory card into the memory card slot. This is the same sort of memory card that is used in cameras. Check the specifications, however.
