the RS is Real Stainless steel and the PN is the matte stainless look. The PN is magnetic whereas the RS is not. Most stainless steel appliances will not display magnets. The PN is also more matte and does not show as many fingerprints. It looks cleaner and is cheaper than its stainless steel counterpart.

The RF217ACRS is real Stainless Steel; the RF217ACPN is Stainless Platinum, Samsung's fingerprint-resistant, magnetic finish which is easier to keep clean. Some customers also like having the ability to display magnetic items on the refrigerator, which is not an option with real Stainless Steel. Thank you for the question, Ms. Samsung
