“Is there a way I can hook this up to my tv where it acts as the only audio coming from the tv, and/or I could only have to use the remote that came with my tv to change the volume?”

First you'll have to go into your tvs audio settings and turn off the tv speakers. As far as using the tv remote for the sound at I believe that's only possible if your tv is a samsung.

It's how I have it. I just turn down the TV's volume and use the remote for the soundbar
