“how to reset the controls on the outside of the door? I leaned against the controls and they went off, all the food is spoiled now. cant' get them to reset properly.”

read the manual. If you press the word freezer on the freezer door it will show various temperatures. I set mine to -2*. If you touch the word refrigerator (which is on the riight side of the same panel, you can change the temperature by pressing it. I keep my fridge at 38*

This mode allows the lights and control panel to function while turning the cooling system off; it is primarily intended for use on showroom floors. To turn the cooling system back on, press the Lighting and Freezer buttons for at least 3 seconds. You should now be able to set the desired temperature and the compressor will turn on within a few minutes and start to cool.
