Hi trailblazer15. Thank you for reaching out regarding your Samsung - 27.4 Cu. Ft. Side-by-Side Refrigerator if you can use without a water filter. Regarding your concern, we highly recommend you use a water filter. A water dispenser with a filter is one of the helpful features of your new refrigerator. To help promote better health, the water filter removes unwanted particles from your water. The water line also connects to the ice maker. For the ice maker to operate properly, a water pressure of 30 to 120 psi (206 to 827 kPa) is required. I will be sharing the link to your user manual for further assistance.
