It can be popped out be very careful. You have to go underneath after you take the drawers out push up a little firmness but not much also I have done a butter knife in between the glass and the plastic area that holds it in place. Honestly this is the worst refrigerator I have ever purchased. Can I ask if you are having problems with your ice maker or paint peeling off the front? Thanks Linda 
PS they put caulking on my freezer as you can see in the picture and on all my appliances the very edge the paint is peeling off. Right now I have it with and attorney because customer service refuses to do anything about it even with a extended warranty
