Thank you for the question! The fact is that not everyone wants their washer dryer to stand over 50" high, even if it is a more comfortable height for loading and unloading the machine. Some people prefer to have the top of the machine fit below a counter or folding table, and others wish to be able to stack the dryer on top of the washer so they take up less floor space. The beauty of having the pedestals as an optional accessory is that each customer can decide for him or herself what set up best suits their needs. - Ms. Samsung
