You can set up in a garage. I do not currently have the ice maker hooked up because it is not in my kitchen. It is an extra refrigerator. You do not need a special outlet.

Page 16 has detailed information about the location requirements for this refrigerator. If the location in your garage meets these requirements, it is safe to install it there. Since you are not installing a water line connection, it is important to turn the ice maker off by following the steps on page 33. ^Jecca
