“I have a Firestick 4K and Echo dot I use as a speaker. Will the Echo Dot work with the TV sound when we watch cable TV as well as the Firestick when we stream videos?”

I don’t think so, and to be honest the speakers in the TV might actually be a little better than the speakers in your echo dot. If you’re looking for additional sound or increased sound quality I would look at inexpensive sound bars, some of them now are quite small such as the Polk mini
