No, it is impossible to add anything mid cycle. The lid locks and doesn't unlock unless you turn it off. And this machine makes a good amount of noise. We have it away from the living area, so the loudness actually helps me know when it's done.

Unfortunately, after the first ten minutes (where it senses and adds water based on the weight of the clothing and the cycle selected) you cannot add more clothing mid-wash.

Secondly, yes, It is a very quiet machine.

It's easy to add more clothes to the washer mid-cycle...just press "pause", wait for the machine's lid to unlock, add the clothing, shut the lid and press "start".
My machine is very quiet except when the water pump is working, and there is a rather loud hum during the spin cycle. I just shut the door to the laundry room and I don't hear it. Again, this might be the difference between a machine costing $450 and a more expensive one.

Yes just press the start/ pause button and it will unlock so you could add clothing if you need too. Also it seems pretty quiet to me.

Yes you can by just pushing the pause button. Once machine stops the door will unlock.

It is quite for the most part, but sometimes on spin cycle it does shake.

You can hit pause and wait for the door to unlock then throw in more clothes. The washer is fairly quiet.
