“Why higher ratios in TVs with more componets? I've noticed that the higher priced TVs are due to more hook-ups in the back. As more hook-ups are added the ratios seem to go up. I chose a 2 HDMI TV but it's only 40,000:1 while the one I am taking back is a 70,000:1. WHY? Is there a two HDMI TV with a higher ratio? Why is this so complicated and don't you people get a LOT of returned TVs????”

The contrast ratio and number of hdmi ports are completely independant of one another. The reason you usually see a 40,000:1 specd tv with 3 or more hdmi ports is simply because that is a "higher end" tv. Think of it like a car, if you're looking for cars with built-in GPS systems, those same cars will most likely also come with CD-players. That does not mean that the two features are related at all, though.
