You go to TV video input, when you look for the HDMI input which will say 1, 2, 3, or 4 pick which one to put it on . So when you want to watch the DVD or the vhs just go to input and put it on the number you picked. Make sure that the HDMI wire are on output from the DVD to input on the TV
