“Is the installed Hulu app the version that allows live streaming TV, or do you need a fire stick for that?”

• Hulu actually wasn’t installed on the tv and wasn’t supported when I tried back in September, but I haven’t checked since. I was able to use the built in AirPlay to play Hulu from my iPad.

• Hulu seems to run just fine. I watch nature and animal programs on it all of the time. There may be a paid service for premium content that I do not use.
