• Hi Prime, Once you pair the SWA-9500S Wireless Rear Speakers to the HW-Q800B you will be able to hear surround out of them using an optical cable. But you will lose the ability to play Dolby Atmos content, as that does need to be played using an HDMI cable. ~Samsung Solutions

• I am using optical headphones and sound bar hdmi simultaneously. there is a setting for that in settings menu.
