If the lid is open, will the water continue to fill the tub so I can use it for stain removal like on older washers? Can I use the water as it is filling the tub for stain removal? Or does the water stop filling the tub if the lid is opened?

The washing machine will not operate if the lid is open whether you pause it or before you start it. Once you close it and push start, it automatically locks. You can pause it and it will unlock for you to load more clothes or adjust the clothes.

Thanks for the question. The WA56H9000AW will stop the water from entering the Washer when the lid is opened, but you can press Pause to open the lid to add garments, soak, treat stains, etc. nearly any time during the cycle, with only a few exceptions, such as when Sanitize is selected. - Ms. Samsung
