• Yes, I hooked my receiver to the TV with optic cable. you also have HDMI inputs and conventional audio input

• Yes. You can hook up surround sound either buy using a Digital Optical cable, or using an HDMI cable for newer receivers. TV has 3 HDMI and 1 Optical.
