The TV defaults to its ECO mode which adjusts the picture based on room light levels. Turn it off in by going into the Menu > System > Eco Solution.

Thank you for reaching out! Our TV's have several picture modes that you can test out and see which works better for your personal taste. It sounds like this TV is set to Dynamic. This can cause the screen to get darker based on the ambient lighting. Try going to MENU>Picture>Picture Mode and test out those settings.
