Wifi is for using your phone..and voice to activate certain options...(light on and off,,,temperature,,,timers)u can also set it up to preheat by mobile or voice..but you have to press one button on the panel to start it....that is a safety thing

In the SmartThings app, you can monitor the oven and cooktop, and even control certain settings, right from your phone.
