It varies, different artwork has different effects and background lighting. I can dim or alter almost all of the artwork that I have used and the mattings and framing highlights are just awesome. So it gives you a fair amount of control on the effect you are after. I love this TV and did a lot of research before purchasing it. Such innovation and people are amazed by it's versatility and beauty. I purchased the white frame and it looks great in my living room. Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.The television has a feature that dims the picture if the light in the room is low. This can be turned off if you don't want it. Oil paintings look less realistic the closer you get. Photographs look just like a photograph would under glass. Maybe even better.
