There's a smartphone app that will control the TV (including powering it on). I haven't spent much time with the app so perhaps it offers more functionality... but if you're not in front of the TV, it may be difficult for you to open and operate an app on the TV (say YouTube as an example). That said if you have a source device plugged in (cable box or the like) and turned on, and your TV is set to go to that source when turned on, it may fit your needs.
