Is a soundbar a necessity? null

No, but if you are going to spend the money on the tv why not get the soundbar, it definitely added another level to the quality of watching the tv. We hooked it all up and love it!! The soundbar accidentally got unhooked and everyone noticed it right away. So I would say...It's worth the extra money!
