A:Answer I mean you "can", but that doesn't mean you should. Especially if your fireplace gives off a lot of heat. Overtime that will damage the TV, and decrease the life of the TV. If your fireplace has venting in it that mitigates the heat from rising out of it, then I'd say you're ok. You just want to make sure that you don't have any heat rising up and hitting the TV. A good way to test is to have your fireplace going as hot as you can get it, put your arm out touching the wall above it, and if you feel heat... I would advise against mounting the TV above it.
