Yes. The very first instruction in the installation manual is to detach the mounting plate that you'll use as a template for drilling when you begin installation. It should come attached to the back of the microwave by two screws. My open box unit did not come with one though. Not sure if I could have reused the back plate from my previous (GE) microwave, or not. I ended up returning it because there were other missing parts and issues.
