No. When connected to a blue tooth enabled system, they are just ON. Their microphones (4 of them) will pick up and transmit any sounds, including voice. When you are not speaking, they do not go to sleep. If you are connected to a smart phone or computer Zoom (or similar) call, you can, of course, mute the output at the device.
