“Looking to switch over to Consumer Cellular with unlocked Samsung J7. Are there any problems doing this? Was told they couldn't guarantee it would work as well as the locked phones the sell. They unlock phone after six months with their service.”

Well, this phone usually works with most of the cell companies, lock or unlocked; but you can ask your line carrier before you buy the j7.
