• kids mode doesn't cost us anything on our kids tablets. btw, this product is way better than the nabi and Amazon kid tablets.

• If you want to renew the service, there is an extra cost. The service includes "free" games and books. One does not need the service to use the tablet. It is similar to other tablets when it is not in kids mode.
