Universal Unlocked phones have limitations that differ from carrier to carrier. For example, with AT&T, my unlocked Galaxy Note 8 will not work with Voice over LTE, does not integrate automatically with visual voice mail (visual voicemail is a separate app instead of integrated), and does not support calls over WiFi. That being said, I am happy that I can change to Verizon at any time. I recommend Universal Unlocked phones if you are willing to live with the limitations and want carrier portability.
