Yes you can very much do that. Go talk to a Verizon specialist in Best Buy.

Yes. Best buy can process the payment of the remained of your phone. Then they can proceed with setting you up with the new phone. However when trading in your old phone it is with Bestbuy not Verizon so you only receive store credit and it cant be applied to your new phone and neither can a gift card to best buy.
