• I was just given a $200 gift card with my purchase to use in the store. However since best buy does not own Verizon, the gift card is to be used in the store and on best buy products. It helps people to want to buy the phone from best buy instead of the cellphone carrier.

• They don't actually issue you the gift cards until after you have paid for the phone, so I would say you would not be able to use it for that purchase.
