I just went through this exact situation with Verizon. If you buy the phone and choose Verizon as your carrier you will have to change plans, regardless of whether you make payments or buy the phone outright. If you purchase an unlocked version of the phone, say through Best Buy or Samsung, then you can just switch the sim card over and keep your grandfathered plan. Word of advice though, I finally did just change to their new unlimited plan with 3 lines and it saves me $100 a month versus my grandfathered unlimited plan with 3 lines.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Last time I talked to Verizon, they don't do new contracts anymore. The only contracts are with the phones if you choose the monthly payment. You'll have to pay an activation/upgrade fee unless they waive it, which I was told is $30 because with the all glass body, I don't believe it has a sim card. Can't remember the access charge each month for the old unlimited plan, the new unlimited plan has a $20 a month per line access charge. I currently have a $40 a month access charge because I'm still stuck in a contract until November, then it'll go down to $20. Hope this helps!
